Animal Hospital

Our dogs go to the doctor more than we do, so our choice of veterinarian should be very important. Unfortunately, I became emotionally close to our previous vet, before I realized she wasn't our best choice. She, as well as the staff, became like family. For a while, I just asked her to give us referrals to specialists. We have an allergy specialist and a bone specialist for our dogs, but I finally realized I would have to find another primary care veterinarian. Through references we found Dr. Daniels at Mercedes Place Animal Hospital. I have since discovered that the Bass family take their pets to this animal hospital too.

Today I must put all my trust in Dr. Daniels. I have left both my boys under her care. She will give Gollum anesthesia for a dental cleaning as well as remove a mole from Artimus and take bloodwork for analysis. To add to the drama, Artimus decided to have some kind of seizure a couple of days ago. Thankfully, Tom was there to witness the strange contortions with me, because it was scary to see. It lasted only seconds, then Artimus got up and acted normal. So, Dr. Daniels is testing Artimus for epilepsy. She needs to do a urinalysis and take a fecal sample. Since Artimus won't pee or poop for her, guess what I get to do? I must catch pee. I'm accustomed to catching poop (that's for another story), but pee sounds a little trickier. After I catch the pee, I must use a dropper like thing to transfer it into a beaker. Fun stuff. I'll be catching my dog's pee in the middle of downtown Fort Worth with various pedestrians walking by. That will be priceless. But...I LOVE THIS DOG!

Gollum had two teeth removed. His teeth are just genetic nightmares. Artimus needs his teeth cleaned too, but we're waiting on labwork to make sure he's going to be OK under anesthesia, and to find out if he has developed more health problems.

I swear I think my dogs are hypochondriacs.

How do you people do it with two-legged children? I would be out-of-my-mind overprotective, overbearing mom. This is the way I like to see my boys! (all three of them happy and healthy!)

  1. Oh my, oh my!

I am glad you changed vets. Wise choice, now I think the boys will get the right care and be healthier. Maybe when you all get over this little hump, they won't need much care for a long while.

Thank you for being such a good mommy to "the boys".

Loved the picture of the happy "boys",(Tom included), that is the way I see them.

    Love you all, MomGrandma
