Fierce!

Tom is definitely the "fun" dad. He does all the roughhousing with the dogs. Here's the ferociousness firsthand. The dogs look evil in these pictures because the way the camera picked up their eyeballs...which makes them look even more fierce!
Here's Artimus getting ready to catch his crab.
I'd rather sit back and take pictures. I get a little nervous that they will hurt themselves. Whenever Gollum gets the slightest little whack on the nose or something, he comes crying to me. So I get to baby him and, of course, that's just fine by me.

  1. That interaction with the big Boy and the little boys is neat, but I can understand, just like the Mama, "somebody is going to get hurt". The best part is, of course, when the game is over and nobody got hurt but they are happy and tired and STILL want to come to Mama! Love it!

Have a great weekend. I will, because I get to see the babies on Friday night and Saturday.

Have fun with the them tomorrow.

I am off to the farm.

    Love you Andrea, Mom

  2. David is fun-daddy when it comes to our boys. He wrestles, plays baseball, and does all the things with them that should result in some sort of visit to the ER.

But our ER visits have been limited to time with mommy when daddy is out of town! Y'know, injuries from dangerous things like walking across the room, tripping and gashing the head open on the edge of a treadmill. Or the very next week, tripping and busting the stitches open and needing to get it restitched. (Both being from my "safe" child Noah-- he is careful just clumsy! Whereas Austin does dumb stuff on purpose and never gets hurt. Go figure.)

Okay, have Artimus or Gollum really ever gotten hurt? Or do you just worry?

    Just wondering.

    Love ya,
    Marsha

  3. Well, Gollum broke his leg the first time without us even being home. That's why they must be crated when we are out of the house. The second time Gollum broke his leg was when we were all at the park. Tom was running with Artimus followed by Gollum, and I trailed behind. I saw Gollum step wrong; he went down and rolled forward. He stood up, looked back at me, and held up his obviously broken leg. Through five horrible months, we had twice a week visits to the vet to regrow skin over the broken bone. Artimus has had a broken knee. Along with bladder infections, broken teeth, hookworms, parvo virus, and a diarrhea episode that happened to coincide with our visit from the cable guys, I would say I'm always worried about these dogs. We jokingly say we funded the vet's new remodel. It's not much of a joke. The second leg break cost around $5,000. I would not recommend this breed; poor Italian greyhounds, so adorable, and so blessedly fragile.
