ReplyDeleteGrowing up, I never liked dogs (had a bad experience as a kid). Then, around my wife's birthday, I went to a pet store to consider buying her a maltese. She always wanted a dog, had recently been hinting and so... Anyway, did not buy the pup as was thinking if we had a good house for one. So, taking a late night stroll. I rarely take walks, but had a bad day at work. Anyway, we come across the loveliest Maltese abandoned (tied with a telephone cord to a phone pole). That dog has now been with us for almost 6 years and I cannot imagine life without him. I am not a big believer in fate, but the odds of a Maltese being abandoned on the very street I am walking on seems to me a sign. A dog needed a home and he gave us back so much more.
I am sorry for your loss, but please remember, we all die, but only the fortunate few can know unconditional love. I am sure Andrea loved you and the dogs heaps and that is truly special.
I wish you and Gollum all the best.

I, too, wanted to say how sorry I am this happened. It's been such a joy reading her blog. She was a great writer and, obviously, someone who adored her dogs. They were lucky to have her.
